SHOW NOTES: Host Bridgette Mongeon talks with poet, priest and songwriter Malcom Guite about the origination and use of the "Great O" Antiphons within the church. He is writing sonnets to each of the Antiphons used the 7 days before Christmas and inlcuding them with both the Latin song and the English translation on his blog. These Antiphons can deepen the meaning and experience of Advent. The 'O' in the Antiphon is a cry and the 7 used are the names of Christ. O Clavis David (O Key of David) O Oriens (O Dayspring) O Rex Gentium (O King of the nations) O Emmanuel (O God is with Us) You can visit Malcom's blog by following the links above for each blog post. He is posting them every few days as a celebration of Advent. Each post includes an audio recording of the chant both in Latin and in English as well as an audio of Malcom reciting his Sonnets.
